Latest Japanese TV technology for Lanka
The Japanese Government is to introduce the latest and advanced
digital technology called Digital Terrestrial Television to Sri Lanka,
which is being used in television channels and broadcasting stations in
Japan.
Mass Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardhena on an official visit
to Japan, met Japanese Minister of Policy Coordinating Internal Affairs
and Communication Kiyosyry Mory and held discussions regarding this on
Tuesday.
The Ministers held discussions about the media systems of the two
countries. During discussions, Mory promised to grant assistance on
introducing this latest and advanced technology to Sri Lanka's
television and broadcasting stations.
Minister Abeywardhena told Lankapuvath that Minister Mory said he
would introduce this technology, especially to the Sri Lanka Rupavahini
Corporation as a gift of the people of Japan to the people of Sri Lanka.
He also agreed to grant a special training programme to television
and broadcast engineers, the Minister said.
Accepting an invitation of the Media Minister, the Japanese Minister
is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka in June.
