Cultural Affairs Minister feted

A series of events to mark the 25th anniversary of the political career of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana was held at Deiyandara National School on Sunday.

The ceremony - Podujana Harasara Silver Jubilee was organised by the people of the Matara district to felicitate him. Several development projects were mooted to mark this event including a cultural centre.

Meanwhile, 1,000 parents of war heroes and those who offered their children to Buddha Sasana were felicitated in addition to donating spectacles, wheel-chairs and clutches to 3,000 destitute people.
