Wesley College staged a superb second half rally to beat Ananda
College by 25 points to 17 points in their Singer inter school under 20
Division One Group B league rugby tournament match worked off at Longden
Place yesterday.
The Wesleyites who were trailing 15-17 at half time came back
magnificently to turn the game in their favour and register their third
win in the tournament collecting their points from one goal, three tries
and one penalty. The Anandians responded with one goal and two tries.
Number eight Dulanjana Wijesinghe, flanker Elham Sally, winger Zalique
Jayah and centre Azward Aniff scored a try each for Wesley College with
the latter converting one try and also putting over a penalty.
Ananda College made a promising start to the game and dominated the
first half following three splendid tries from winger Dilshan Dharmasiri,
fly half Lahiru Gunasinghe and prop forward Thilina Nanayakkara. However
centre Thusitha Fonseka managed to convert just a solitary try for
Ananda.
