Troops regain Palampiddy
Troops on Saturday afternoon regained Palampiddy,
a major LTTE stronghold in Mannar. The Army faced severe resistance
by the terrorists as they reached Palampiddy, about 8 km north of
Madhu, which the Forces captured recently.

Army amnesty extended
The Army has extended the general amnesty
granted to those soldiers who are Absent Without Official Leave, to
rejoin the service. The deadline for deserters to rejoin the service
without any punishment is now May 31, instead of May 16.
