Man jailed for supplying gun in Canada fatal shooting
Alleged shooter hiding in Lanka, say police
A man who supplied the gun used by another to spray a Brampton home
with bullets, killing an innocent young woman inside, has pleaded guilty
to manslaughter.
Jeyaganesh Satkuru yesterday got a four-year prison term in the death
of Amretta Singh, 20, who was shot on March 20, 2004, as she stood in
the hall of her family's home. Satkuru, 30, of Toronto wasn't present
when another man fired at the home. But a few hours earlier he gave the
gunman the weapon, which the assailant had previously asked him to hide
until he needed it.
The alleged shooter, Vijayarajah (Vijay) Manickavasagar, 26, of
Toronto is still being sought. Peel police believe he is hiding in Sri
Lanka.
"I want to apologise to the victim's family," Satkuru said in court.
