Lankans to Havana Poetry Festival
Some 95 poets from the five continents will participate at the 13th
Havana's International Poetry Festival, to begin on May 26 (to 31), with
a call to rescue original languages.
The President of the Organizing Committee writer Alex Pausides
announced in a press conference that the guests will be Mexican Juan
Banuelos, Paraguayan Susy Delgado, Peruvian William Hurtado de Mendoza,
and Guatemalan Humberto Ak Abal.
Spain, Mexico, Russia, US and Peru are at the top of the list of
countries with greater number of delegates. There will also be
participants of Austria, Canada, Barbados, Denmark, Italy, Sweden, Sri
Lanka and Thailand.
The space dedicated to experimental designs as poetic performances in
which poetry and music will go together and will figure among the new
innovations of this edition.
One of the main activities will be World Meeting of Poets in Defense
of Humanity, described by Pausides as an alive, permanent intellectual
network, which fights against war and in favour of peace and justice.
