St. Joseph's Girls School enter semi-finals

St. Joseph's Girls School, Nugegoda notched up a runaway 86 points to
31 win over Holy Family Convent, Kurunegala to book a place in the
semi-finals of the All Island Under 19 Girls' A Division Basketball
Tournament played at St. Joseph's Girls School, Nugegoda, recently.
The tournament is being hosted by the St. Joseph's Girls School with
the Colombo District Basketball Association and Sri Lanka Schools BA.
The host team was leading with 47 points to 17 at the breather.
Chethani Peiris (25) and Dilrufa Samath (19) were the best shooters for
St. Joseph's while Divini Abeysinghe fought a lone battle for Familians
with six points.
Sirimavo BMV beat St. Paul's School, Milagiriya by 55 points to 52 in
a thriller in another quarter-final fixture played at the same venue.
The former led by 33 points to 22 at half time. Buddhika Wijenayake (22)
and Erandi Rajapakshe (16) stood out for the winners while Lahiruka
Weeraratne (15) and Umavi Pathirana with eight points were the main
scorers for SPM.
In the other quarterfinals Good Shepherd Convent beat Our Lady of
Victories Convent, Moratuwa by a close 69 points to 65 while Visakha
Vidyalaya defeated St. Lawrence's School, Wellawatte by 66 points to 60
played at St. Lawrence's School.
In the matches worked off at Visakha Vidyalaya, courts OLV swamped
Loyola College, Negombo by 64 points to 12, Visakha Vidyalaya beat
Loyola College 68 points to 14, CIS beat Loyola College by 35 points to
34, OLV Convent, Moratuwa beat Visakha Vidyalaya by 52 points to 47.
In the fixtures played at HFC, Kurunegala, Holy Family Convent,
Kurunegala beat Asian International School by 70 points to 37, St.
Paul's College, Milagiriya beat Pushpadana girls by 41 points to 22.
The Matches played at St. Lawrence's courts, Wellawatte, Good
Shepherd Convent beat Girls' High School, Kandy by 64 points to 6, St.
Lawrence's School beat Ladies College by 85 points to 15. |
