Kelaniya PS Chairman killed in crash

Minister Mervyn Silva and three others injured:

Dehiattakandiya: Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, Seevali Kelanitilake was killed in a motor crash while Labour Minister Dr. Mervyn Silva and three others travelling with him in the Minister's vehicle were injured and hospitalised.

The mishap occurred near the ninth mile post in Aralaganwila, Dehiattakandiya yesterday. The Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman was killed on the spot while Minister Silva and the injured were admitted to Dehiattakandiya Base Hospital. Later they were airlifted to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment.

Aralaganwila Police which conducted investigations into the incident said the Minister and the rest of the injured had suffered only minor injuries.

The mishap occurred when the Minister's vehicle which travelled from Aralaganwila to Dehiattakandiya skidded off the road and crashed into a concrete pillar.
