UNP condemns
Chamikara Weerasinghe
UNP Deputy Secretary General Tissa Attanayaka yesterday said that the
members of their party were saddened to hear about the death of Minister
Jeyeraj Fernandopulle yesterday morning.
"Our party regrets his demise. We have lost an outstanding debater in
the Parliament. Fernandopulle was a fearless character. He was never
scared of criticism. He faced them bravely," said Tissa Attanayaka.
"The UNP shares the grief of Fernandopulle's family and his kith and
kin," he said. Attanayaka condemned the act as brutal.
He said, "The UNP condemns this brutal act by the LTTE terrorists."
"The LTTE has been killing national leaders and VIPs of this country for
over many years. Fernandopulle became yet another victim of LTTE
terrorism and brutality."
"The Government must stop these killings. They take place in the city
and its outskirts." he added.
Peace must be established, he said. |
