Sri Lanka's Rugby Sevens coach Rawiri Mako has gone back to New
Zealand after completing his assignment of coaching the Sri Lanka Rugby
Sevens team which took part in the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens from March 28
to 30, 2008.
"Rawiri was contracted for a period of one month to coach the Sri
Lanka Sevens Rugby team and he has returned to New Zealand after
finishing his task" said the President of the SLRRU DIG Nimal Lewke.
He said that the Rugby Union will recruit a new foreign coach to
train the Sri Lanka team for the Singer-SriLankan Rugby Sevens in
September, and Asian Division One Tournament in Chinese Taipei in
October.
Lewke said that he was disappointed with the performance of Rawiri
Mako who failed to produce a strong team for the Hong Kong Sevens after
coaching them for more then three weeks.
He also blamed the national selectors for not selecting a balanced
team.
"They should have picked at least four specialist forwards for the
Hong Kong Sevens instead of two and also should have not selected
players who were not fully fit" said Lewke. |
