Chairman PC Pharma, S.H.M. Rishan commenting about the company's recent development said, "Although PC Pharma is relatively new in the local pharmaceuticals market, we are very proud to state that we have managed to link up with Square which is considered as one of the best and largest pharmaceutical product manufacturers in the world.

We have identified that there is a serious vacuum for superior quality drugs in the local market that can be purchased at a reasonable price. With this partnership we are sure that we can fill up this vacuum to a considerable level.

Further, we are sure we will be able to add value to the industry by making drugs available at the right time, in proper quantities and at affordable prices." At present Square exports their products to 20 different countries including the EU and has a yearly turnover of USD 101.90 m with a 14.30 per cent annual growth. Square Pharmaceuticals has strategic technical collaborations with industry giants such as Janssen Pharmaceuticals of Belgium, a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson USA and F.

Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd., of Switzerland. Commenting about the distributor agreement, Marketing Director of SPL M. Haque, said, "We are proud to have PC Pharma as one of our strategic partners.

In order to support our global expansion strategy, we were looking for a partner in Sri Lanka. After considering many applications we decided to partner with PC Pharma because of their dynamic customer oriented culture, commitment to quality, superior networking skills coupled with financial capabilities. We are quite sure that this partnership will bring in mutual benefits for both the companies."

Square drugs will enter the Sri Lankan market during this month and PC Pharma will be distributing these products Islandwide through their already established and new/direct distributor networks.

PC Pharma would be initially concentrating on launching the Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Dermatological and Antibiotic product categories and special niche molecules of the Square range. Several other innovative products and healthcare concepts from SPL will be introduced in the near future.
