Referee awards victory to Moors

In a dramatic turn of events marked with high drama, Moors Sports Club came from behind with a magnificent performance to beat Colts CC outright by five wickets in their SLC Premier League inter club four day Tier 'A' cricket tournament match concluded at Baraybrooke Place yesterday.

The victory of course was awarded to Moors SC by the match referee Graham Labrooy as the Colts CC team walked out due to bad light with the home side needing just two runs to collect maximum points.

Earlier Colts CC declared their second innings at 109 for 4 while setting Moors SC a victory target of 239 runs from 42 overs.

Colts CC: 292 and 109 for 4 decl (D. Perera 36, A. Mathews 21, S. Jayasinghe 24 n.o, A. Perera 2 for 22)

Moors SC: 163 (R. Peiris 57, D. Lokuhettige 37, A. Perera 22, A. Mathews 2 for 14, S. Weerakoon 4 for 75) and 237 for 5 (D. Sudarshana 90 n.o, J. Wannakuwatte 41, R. Peiris 39, D. Lokuhettige 32, S. Weerakoon 3 for 87)

Ragama down NCC

Middle order batsman Harsha Vithana stroked a solid half century to guide Ragama CC to a convincing five wicket victory over NCC in their SLC Premier League inter club four day Tier A cricket tournament match concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

NCC: 243 and 123

Ragama CC: 196 and 173 for 5 (D. Ranatunga 27, I. Senaratne 32, H. Vithana 56, M. Bandara 27 n.o, K. Kulasekera 2 for 21, T. Kottahewa 2 for 60) C.D.

7th wkt pair helps Chilaw Marians

Gayan Wijekoon hit a fighting unbeaten half century and shared an unfinished seventh wicket stand of 73 runs with Janaka Gunaratne as Chilaw Marians pulled off a hard fought four wicket victory over CCC in their SLC Premier League inter club four day Tier A cricket tournament match concluded at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

CCC: 151 and 187
