Jayasekera new Chairman Tournament Committee

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in a major reshuffle appointed former S. Thomas’ College, NCC, SSC, Sri Lanka Air Force wicket keeper batsman and former manager of the national team Ajith Jayasekera as the new Chairman of the Tournament Committee.

Jayasekera will replace former NCC cricketer Basil Perera. The other tournament committee members who have been sacked are Susilough de S. Wijeratne, Roshan Abeysinghe and Priyantha Upul.

Basil Perera of course was included as a member of the tournament committee but had refused to take up the new position and has given his letter of resignation. Former Sri Lanka player Aruna Gunawardena, Dudley Dias and Gihan Weerasinghe are the newly appointed members.

They will be joined by Mahinda Halangoda, Dilan Polonowita and Ravi de Silva who have retained their positions in the new tournament committee.

The new Tournament Committee is expected to meet for the first time today at the SLC headquarters in Maitland Place. Meanwhile SLC have also reshuffled the Tour Organising Committee, Umpires Committee and the Disciplinary Committee with immediate effect.
