Karu wants construction contracts expedited

Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister Karu Jayasuriya has instructed all District Secretaries to expedite all construction contracts by completing them within six months applying modern technology.

He issued these instructions to all DSs at a meeting organised by the Ministry recently.

"The accounts statement of the construction contracts should be submitted to the respective Ministries before the end of third month of every year" Minister stressed.

The Minister instructed the DSs to prepare a duty list for the recently recruited graduates and obtain their maximum benefit to the country through their skills.

Responding to DSs Minister Jayasuriya pointed out the problem of awarding Doctorates and Honorary awards to numerous persons without abiding by laid down guidelines and standards."There should be a specification and a limit on this", he said.

Home Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera praised the public servants who rendered a great service to restore the democracy in the Eastern Province. The concept of "Citizen's Charter" will be introduced to all Ministries shortly with the blessing of the President, Minister Gajadheera said.

He said the District Secretariats shall maintain close coordination with the Provincial Councils.
