President lauds Chief prelate’s services

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has thanked Mahanayake Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter of Shyamopali Maha Nikaya, Viharadhipathi of Rangiri Dambulu Rajamahavihara, Aggamaha Panditha, Most Ven. Udugama Sri Dhammadassi Rathanapala Buddharakkhitha Thera on the occasion of the Thera’s 79th birth celebration for the extensive services rendered to the Buddha Sasana and its sustenance.

The President in a felicitation message to the Mahanayake Thera said he had received invaluable advice from the Thera as the Head of the State and their profoundness has been deeply ingrained in him after deep analysis.

The message: “I make this an opportunity to express my respect and indebtedness to the Mahanayake Thera , born in March 17, 1930 for his sublime services to nourish and foster the Buddha Sasana.

It is difficult to estimate the services rendered by the Mahanayake Thera for the uplift of Sasana and the society in a short message. The Thera has led a life of a great Bhikkhu inspiring other bhikkhus, rendering his services when and where it was necessary at the right time. I wish the Thera good health.
