PC House to manufacture saline

PC House Limited, which designs and manufacture Panora computers in Sri Lanka is to diversify in manufacturing of saline and dialysis water for the local market.

Chairman of PC House S. H. M. Rishan told Daily News Business that they would be investing Rs. 80 to 90 million for this project. “The factory for the project would be set up in Mattakuliya where Panora computers are being manufactured,” he said.

The company has also received the certification for the project. “Since this is a substantial investment we need a buy back guarantee and now we are in the process of negotiations.” he said.

The health sector with the inclusion of the private sector is now having an annual turnover in excess of Rs. 30 billion. “PC House is looking at more opportunities in this sector,” he said.

PC House is the business partner in Sri Lanka for many international brands such as Intel, Philips, Gigabyte, Logitech/Labtec range of products, Power Tree Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems and Philips PC Peripherals.

Rishan said that after consolidation the local operation they would also look to set up similar factory in the region.

“We may look for partnerships for this purpose,” he said.

PC House is also business partner for IBM range of computer solutions and Gold System Builder for Microsoft.

He also said that they are aggressively perusing the BPO industry and are hoping to acquire 10 local small time BPO players.

The company has already acquired two local companies mainly to increase their European BPO activities. He also said that they would be looking at the hospitality industry too after successful opening of Sheetal Samudra in Thurstan Road last year. “We already have North Indian chefs and 50 people employed in this project,” he said.
