President Colombo Law Society

Senior Attorney at Law Janaprith Fernando won the keenly contested election with a convincing majority to be appointed as the President of the Colombo Law Society.

Colombo District Judge Sisira Ratnayake was the Returning Officer.

Janaprith as the New President of the Colombo Law Society said that he will do his best for the benefit of the membership and promised to lead the Society with the co-operation of all the members to achieve the objectives of the Law Society.

The new President of the Colombo Law Society said that he is aware of the hardships faced by both the practitioners and the litigants and that he will do everything to find the necessary solutions in order that the Public will have more confidence in the Judicial System of our country and the lawyers.

Janaprith is presently the Scout Commissioner for Colombo District. He is and old boy of S. Thomas' Preparatory School Kollupitiya and S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia.

At school Janaprith excelled in studies and other extra curricular activities. He has been practising as an Attorney for the past 16 years and has served in the Committee of the Law Society, Treasurer, Secretary and Vice President of the Colombo Law Society.

Janaprith was a past President of Leo Club of Wellawatte West. He was the President of Law Students Union at Sri Lanka Law College in 1990.

Binara Gunasekera was elected as the Secretary while Dinoo Dharmaratne as the Treasurer. Hemantha Situge Editor. Kamal Gunasinghe and K. Kaneshayogan as Vice Presidents.

Assistant Secretary Ganesh Dharmawardhene and Assistant Treasurer V. Puvitharan.

A six member Working Committee comprising of T.G. Gooneratne, Nihal Peris, Ms. Anoma Goonetilleke, S. Bagirathan, Mahinda Lokuge and Pansy Joseph was elected.
