Resolute action against LTTE by UN essential
The Working Group of the Security Council
on Children and Armed Conflict, meeting yesterday, expressed serious
concern about continuing recruitment of children by the LTTE and the
Karuna Faction. Members of the Working Group commended the
Government of Sri Lanka for action being taken to follow-up on
recommendations made by the Working Group at its meeting last year,
and for the commitment of the Government to work with the Working
Group of the Security Council to eradicate the recruitment of
children for violent purposes.
