CID to probe Rs.2 m fraud at Health Ministry

Three employees of the postal department of the Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition have been interdicted for defrauding Rs.2 million and the case has been referred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The preliminary investigation was carried out by Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition after an inquiry by the Government Audit Department to identify the alleged employees of Ministry.

The CID requested the Immigration and Emigration Controller to impound their passports. The Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition said trade union allegations that the Ministry was trying to stop the probe were baseless.

The Ministry vowed to take immediate action against the employees without delay.
