Wilfred Perera's autobiography launch
The autobiography of Wilfred Perera's 45 years in his life in
teaching, politics and writing titled Visammuthi Sammuthiya (assent over
dissent) will be launched at St. Benedict's College Hall at 3.00 p.m.
today.
Perera, a staunch supporter of the Leftist politics joined the Lanka
Sama Samaja Party in 1952. As a member of the party, he co-edited the
party newspaper Sama Samajaya and later became the editor of the paper.
Disillusioned with the principles of LSSP he left the party in 1964.
Retiring from his teaching profession he took to editing and writing.
He was one time editor of Sadharanaya of centre for society and religion
and Sanvaada of Christian workers' fellowship.
Among the books, he has authored are Muthu Etaya, Samaja Saadharanaya
Ha Adhikaranaya (translations), Abhiyogaya (poetry) and Selalihiniya
study aid. He has authored a book on child labour for UNESCO.
At the launch where Principal of St. Benedict's College is at the
chair. Prof. Carlo Fonseka will deliver the keynote address. Ravindra
Randeniya will talk on behalf of old students of St. Benedict's. |
