Caltex revamps Kandy Station for SAARC Summit

Amongst the many arrangements under way for the 15th SAARC Summit to be held in the picturesque city of Kandy this year, the Ministry of Transport with the support and assistance of Caltex - a leader in lubricants and marketed by Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, have commenced renovation work at the Kandy railway station as part of the Kandy city development project to be completed in time for the summit in July this year.

At a ceremony held at the Kandy railway station recently, Minister of Transport Dullas Alahapperuma, and Managing Director/CEO for Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC Kishu Gomes, firmed this commitment as the work at the station got under way to be completed in time for the event.

During the ceremony, the Minister expressed his profound appreciation to Chevron in Sri Lanka for having come forward to support the Ministry in this initiative. He stated that the renovation of railway stations have been a dire need of the Sri Lanka Railways and it was indeed an achievement to witness the commencement of this project with Kandy.

Gomes said, “This initiative is the first project within the transportation sector undertaken by us in the country. We are indeed proud to be supporting the Ministry of Transport and the Sri Lanka Railways in this project. It indeed marks a milestone in the history of Chevron.”
