'Vilka' T Shirts at the Airport

The Export Development Board opened its 'Export Promotion Display and Sales Centre' at the Bandaranaike International Airport recently.

International Trade Minister, Professor G L Peiris who opened the Sales Centre in the presence of a large number of Government officials and other invitees from the private sector spoke of the great benefits accruing from a project such as this where the local manufacturer of premium quality products could be placed in direct contact with prospective foreign buyers.

According to the Minister, this had been proposed on the Government Budget of 2005 whereby showroom space was to be provided at the BIA Katunayake to display and sell export oriented products from Sri Lanka.

The four participating companies that were finally selected by the SLEDB after interviewing over fifty interested organisations were, Vilka Designs Private Limited with 100% Cotton Men's T Shirts, Mackwoods Value Added Tea, Multichemi International with natural based herbal cosmetics and Thansher and Company producing hand made cigars.
