Serendib Flour Mills selects Oracle E-Business Suite
Oracle announced that Serendib Flour Mills (Pvt) Ltd, which is set to
commence commercial milling operations in early 2008, has selected
Oracle E-Business Suite (Oracle Applications), to automate and integrate
its entire mill operations.
A joint venture between two members of Dubai-based, National Flour
Mills (Al Ghurair Group) and Emirates Trading Agency, Serendib has
already deployed a comprehensive set of Oracle Applications modules to
integrate the financial and supply chain management processes.
DMS Software Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., a TBC Certified Partner in the
Oracle PartnerNetwork in Sri Lanka, and Client Centric Consulting
Solutions (3CS), an Oracle TBC Partner in Pakistan, implemented Oracle
Applications at Serendib within a period of three months.
Oracle Applications will enable Serendib to enhance the overall
efficiency and performance of its business by enabling online and
real-time accounting processes, tightly integrating all business
functions, and streamlining information and financial systems. Oracle
Applications will also help Serendib meet local accounting requirements
specifically for the Sri Lanka market.
“Oracle is a vital part of enhancing efficiency of our business
processes,” said Firdowsy Ismail, Chief Financial Officer of Serendib
Flour Mills.
“We look forward to improved business performance and sustained
profitability and growth with the new Oracle system. The plant will have
an initial milling capacity of one thousand metric tones per day and we
have plans to capture a growing share of the local wheat flour market.”
“This is a strategic project for Oracle in Sri Lanka. This clearly
demonstrates the value of an end-to-end solution that Oracle delivers to
its customers in the manufacturing industry,” said Regional Manager of
Oracle Corporation’s Sri Lanka liaison office Dr. Vickum Senanayake.
According to General Manager, DMS Software Technologies (Pvt) Ltd.,
Palitha Rodrigo, this implementation required innovative use of
technology as Serendib is a start up company operating in a highly
competitive market conditions.
“Close collaboration between 3CS, Serendib and DMS were critical to
the successful completion of this project,” said Ahmed Bham, CEO of 3CS.
“PricewaterhouseCoopers, independent consultants to Serendib, helped
throughout the project. The project included optimizing business
processes through product and vendor selection, quality assurance of
deliverables, managing scope and schedule compliance,” said
PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Director for Technology Advisory Services in Sri
Lanka, Lilani de Silva. |
