Wins SAFA award:

Union Assurance brings honour to Sri Lanka

Union Assurance PLC, one of the leading composite insurers in Sri Lanka brings honour to Sri Lanka by winning the most coveted SAFA award for ‘Overall Best Presented Accounts’, recently at New Delhi, India.

The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) was formed in 1984 to serve the accountancy profession in the South Asian Region.

SAFA is also an Apex Body of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) and the Regional Grouping of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

SAFA represents over 170,000 accountants that are members of national chartered accountancy and cost and management accountancy institutions in South Asia.

The SAFA Award for the ‘Best Presented Accounts’ evaluates companies on corporate performance, accounting policies and disclosures, governance and stakeholder information, timeliness in issuing accounts, holding Annual General Meetings and Annual Report presentation.

Despite the rigorous award criteria, Union Assurance was recognised by SAFA in the previous year as well and won an award under the category for the ‘Best Presented Accounts’ in the Non-Banking Financial Sector. Union Assurance improved upon its own performance to become the overall winner of the ‘Best Presented Accounts’ Award.

Union Assurance was also awarded the Overall Best Annual Report, best in the Insurance Sector, best management commentary and a Merit for Corporate Governance Disclosure by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL).


Sunsilk Style International scheduled for February

Unilever Sri Lan- ka’s mega hair care brand Sunsilk, together with the Professional Hairdressers’ and Beauticians’ Association (PHABA) are prepared to storm Colombo for the six consecutive year when Sunsilk Style International launched at BMICH february 28.

The event which will continue till the second of March, is open to the public from 9:00 am to 8.00pm everyday and will provide consumers with the opportunity to visit over 80 trade stalls dedicated to various aspects of the hair and beauty industry including bridal dressing and make up, trendy hairdos, designer clothing, wedding photography, floral arrangements, cake d,cor, wedding planning, nail art and more.

Sampath Bank opens 150th ATM at Laugfs SunUp
