Market positive

Positive sentiments prevailed in the market throughout the day but however heightened interest was witnessed after midday based on speculation on the political front.

ASPI appreciated 64.46 points or 2.70 per cent to end the day at 2452.39 while the MPI advanced 80.42 points or 2.62 per cent to close the day at 3150.68.

Turnover for the day stood at Rs. 232.2 mn.

Interest was mostly witnessed on low value counters. LCEM proved to be the pick of the day after 5.31 mn shares changed hands at a price range of Rs. 8 and Rs.15 before closing at Rs. 11.50. The counter posted Rs. 58.1 mn to the day's turnover and thus topped the day's turnover as well.

Other heavily traded counters for the day were REEF with 0.89 mn shares, LITE with Rs. 0.70 mn shares and GLAS with 0.66 mn shares changing hands.

Other notable contributors turnover wise were CINS with Rs. 19.1 mn and DIST with Rs. 8.82 mn. Foreigners were more prominent on the buying side bringing the net inflow to Rs. 24.6 mn.
