Security Forces advance in Mannar

Security Forces scored another victory in the Wanni front by
capturing one square kilometres of territory under LTTE control in the
North of Parappakandal, Mannar on Tuesday night.
Over 19 LTTE cadres were killed including a female area leader with
30 others injured. Heavy fighting erupted when the Security Forces
advanced towards the LTTE territory in the North of Parappakandal,
Mannar on Tuesday around 7.00 p.m.
“The Security Forces advanced towards the Tiger control area
overcoming LTTE resistance.
The fight continued for nearly four hours and advancing troops were
assisted with heavy artillery and Multi Barrel Rocket fire,” Brigadier
Nanayakkara said.
The Security Forces had wrested one square km from uncleared areas in
the North of Parappakandal killing 19 Tigers and injuring 30 others.
Tiger radio intercepts confirmed that 19 of their cadres were lost
including an area female Tiger leader Sudarmalar,” he added.
He said the Security Forces had also overrun 10 LTTE bunkers. A
soldier was killed and five others sustained injuries in the
confrontation.
