Goal post collapses killing student

A Year 10 student of Lalith Atulathmudali Vidyalaya, Mt. Lavinia died when a goal post collapsed on him while at football practice on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at the Irrigation Ground, Ratmalana. When the victim was near the goal post it suddenly crashed on him as a colleague was hanging on the bar.

The victim was rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital where he succumbed due to internal bleeding.

It was also reported that the student’s ribs and other internal organs were severely damaged. The Inquirer into Sudden Deaths record a verdict of death due to internal bleeding.

The deceased, Ishara Madusanka was a resident of Kotalawalapura, Ratmalana.
