Ministry to import engines to repair single-door buses

The Transport Ministry has planned to import 200 new bus engines to repair old single-door buses and deploy them on rural routes.

This is part of Minister Dallas Alahapperuma’s plans to provide a disciplined and efficient bus service to the travelling, the Transport Ministry said in a communique yesterday.

The repaired single-door buses would be deployed on narrow routes which could not facilitate double-door buses. The Ruhuna Regional office of the CTB had already re-deployed 18 single-door buses by fitting new engines imported at a cost of Rs. 20.7 million.
