Baby Kidnapping: Police look for suspect's husband

The woman suspect who kidnapped baby Shavis Rehan from the Colombo South Teaching Hospital is being interrogated by Kohuwala Police to ascertain the real motive for the crime.

Police are also seeking information on her second husband.

Crime OIC of the Kohuwala Police Upul Dayapritha Alawatta said her husband who is said to be a tourist guide had disappeared and Police were on his trail.

Her eldest daughter by her first marriage was to be kept under Probation and Childcare officials after being produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Kohuwala police crime branch yesterday arrested two hospital workers who have allegedly aided and abetted the suspect, the OIC said. These suspects were to be produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate yesterday.
