More funds for education sector

The Government has allocated more funds for the education sector which can be utilised to develop and fulfil education sector requirements in 2008, sources said.

Arrangements have been made to allocate the funds through Provincial Councils and the Education Ministry.

The funds can be used to develop educational activities such as special programmes related to education, inter-schools students' development programmes, national integrity and peace education.

The Government has also increased the quality input allocations which can be utilised for consumable expenditure, maintenance and repairs and capital expenditure.

Allocations for creative activities of teachers and teacher welfare has also been increased up to 35 per cent from 32 per cent.
