Sri Lanka condemns attack on UNHCR office in Algeria

The Government strongly condemned the attack on the UNHCR premises in Algeria. It was a wanton act of cowardice targeting international civil servants and local employees.

Sri Lanka is and has been a victim of terrorism for over 25 years which relies on the use of senseless violence and terrorism to achieve political goals. In this instance, it is unclear as to what they sought to achieve by this act of senseless violence.

The Government expresses its sympathy to the UNHCR, its employees and relatives of those who lost their lives.
