A leading TV channel in France, TV5, which presents the best of all
destinations, will telecast “Echapees Belles Sri Lanka” (Beautiful
Escape Sri Lanka) would explore French interest towards Sri Lanka in
regaining its position as a major tourism destination!
The programme presented by Sophie Jovillard, will be telecast on
December 15 and 16, on Channel 5 at 8.40 pm. The one-hour-documentary
programme will focus on ‘Sri Lanka, A land like no other’ featuring
magnificent beaches, lushness of nature, ancient cultural wonders and
precious stones. Echapp,es Belles, a weekly travel documentary which
takes the French viewers on a discovery trip, has a six million
viewership.
The production was initiated and coordinated by Sri Lanka Tourism
office in
Paris working with with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in
Colombo in partnership with Srilankan Airlines, Connaissance de Ceylon
Travels, Amaya Resorts, Galle Face Hotel, Trans Asia Hotels, Tea Trails
Ltd and The Palace Hotel, who assisted the French TV crew on their visit
to Sri Lanka.
The programme targets the French tourism industry and will become
another tool in the French market to promote Sri Lanka as a holiday
destination.
This exposure is also be vital as a consumer promotion to support the
tour operators marketing Sri Lanka for the 2008 summer season.

‘Hotel Show 2008’ in July
Hotel Show 2008 will be held for the fifth time from July 11 to 13.
The event will bring together a large number of local and international
hospitality suppliers creating an excellent entry way for exhibitors to
demonstrate their products to the hospitality industry of Sri Lanka and
the Maldives.
Tourism has been one of the important industries of the country over
the last two decades with numerous indirect benefits.
With the introduction of the new Tourism Act, the hospitality
industry looks forward with new enthusiasm to serve visitors from new
generating markets to contribute to the national economy as a major
revenue generator.
Singer Sri Lanka joins with Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association
(CHSGA) as the main sponsor for the second consecutive time. Lanka
Exhibition and Conference Services Ltd hosts the event.
“Once again it gives us the tourism industry much confidence to
organise this event bringing in the latest equipment and technology,
plus professional upgrades in raising industry standards to make claim
for Sri Lanka as a quality destination for travel,” Chairman, Organising
Committee, Kumar Senaratne said.
“The show will be a valuable opportunity for showcasing the
capabilities of local as well as foreign suppliers, the overall industry
will benefit from this event while creating a positive image about the
country,” Sarath Fernando, President, Ceylon Hotel School Graduates
Association said.
Hotel Show will include a large number of stalls displaying
facilities for management and technology, furniture, furnishing and
tableware, food and beverage, catering equipment and services and
health, leisure and entertainment.
A large number of visitors are expected to visit the show, ranging
from hotel and resort managers to tourism industry professionals, bakery
owners to chefs and much more in the industry of hospitality organisers
have introduced a new concept to the show, including a bakery
competition, beverage sampling, interior and landscaping show, a display
of latest technology used by the hotels, bartender competition, hawker
food festival and hotel uniform fashion show which will add colour to
the event.
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Authority together with the national
carrier is engaged in promoting the country as a tourist destination
especially along the Mid-East and China. |
