Army Commander visits Wanni

Army Commander Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka flew to Vavuniya on Saturday to encourage the troops fighting in the Wanni and get first hand knowledge on the security situation in the area.

Commander Security Forces Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) Major General Jagath Jayasuriya received and conducted him to the SFHQ Auditorium where Senior Ground Commanders in Wanni had gathered.

SFHQ (W) Commander briefed on the security arrangements in the Wanni area.

The Army Commander had a discussion with Division, Brigade and other formation Commanders about contingency plans in these areas.

The Army Commander issued instructions to Senior Officers before leaving for Colombo, a release by the Army Headquarters said.
