CID takes over Nugegoda blast probe

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over investigations into the Nugegoda bomb blast near a shopping complex last Wednesday.

The Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) is assisting the CID to conduct the investigations.

A special CID team deployed by CID DIG D.W. Prathapasinghe questioned several persons including shopowners in the vicinity and recorded their statements.

The CID also obtained the Government Analysts Department’s help to conduct investigations.

Twenty persons died and over 30 were injured following the blast.

According to hospital authorities some are still undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit.
