New book on Senaka

Senaka, a publication by Harsha Bhatkal on the life and works of a child prodigy and later internationally acclaimed artist Senaka Senanayake, will be launched tomorrow at the Colombo Hilton.

“Senaka is a personal approach and is not an analysis of the artist’s work,” says Bhatkal. The book will also focus on the artist’s interest in environmental conservation.

Born in 1951, Senanayake’s first exhibiting was held when he was just eight. He has held over 100 exhibitions worldwide and his works adorn many buildings in Sri Lanka. He has also opened galleries in Sri Lanka to provide opportunities for other artists.

He draws inspiration from traditional Buddhist art and natural beauty. The 180 page book, Senaka will be available at selected bookstores.
