Thurstan by 2 wkts

Prince of Wales’ College, Moratuwa tasted their first defeat for the current season when Thurstan College, Colombo pulled off a thrilling two wicket victory in their inter school under-twenty division one cricket tournament match played at Moratuwa for the Lemonade Trophy.

Thurstanites resuming at the overnight score of 150 for 7 were all out for 196. Chamesh Shanka bagged 5 for 62.

In their second essay Cambrians were skittled out for 101 runs leaving the opponents a target of 113 runs. Geeth Kumara excelled with the ball with 6 for 21.

At one stage, Cambrians were in the brink of victory when the visitors were struggling at 80 for 8. But a stubborn unbeaten ninth wicket partnership of 35 runs between Ravindu Wijerathne 14 and Ishan Perera 13 helped to achieve their goal.

PWC 207 and 101 (Marlon Fernando 35, Nayana Priyanjana 20, Ravindu Chamalka 3 for 41, Geeth Kumara 6 for 21).

Thurstan 150 for 5 overnight all out 196 (Buddhika Samarwickrema 27, Shivantha Kumara 3 for 34, Chamesh Shanka 5 for 62) and 115 for 8 (Indika Massalage 21, Geeth Kumara 20, Ishan Perera 13 n.o., Ravindu Wijerathne 14 n.o., Rumesh Thirimanne 3 for 18, Shivantha Kumara 3 for 29, Chamesh Fernando 2 for 37).
