Support Forces, Police to fight terrorism - DIG

Colombo District DIG Nimal Mediwaka said yesterday the public must support the security measures being carried out by Police and three Armed Forces. He said public who providing information will be rewarded. Action will be taken against police officers who do not heed information provided by civilians about suspicious parcels or persons, he said.

Fears in Tamil Nadu over LTTE activity

The arrests of a Tiger and four others in Tamil Nadu have fuelled worries that the LTTE may again be getting active in the sprawling Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Police say that the five were apprehended in recent days on charges of transporting explosives and fuel to the LTTE across the narrow sea dividing Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka.
