HSBC Sri Lanka awarded ‘Best in Class’ at Internet Banking Awards 2007
During the recently concluded Global Finance World’s Best Internet Banks
Awards 2007, HSBC Sri Lanka was awarded with the “Best in Class” award
in New York November.
This was a proud moment for HSBC Sri Lanka to have competed with 202
banks from around the world. The “Best in Class”, awards were judged by
an independent panel from Global Finance.
Manager Distribution and Delivery Channels, HSBC Sri Lanka, received the
award.
The other main category awards won by HSBC were: Best Overall Consumer
Internet Bank for Asia Pacific and Best Overall Consumer Internet Bank
for Europe, Best Overall Corporate / Institutional Internet Bank for
Middle East & Africa region, Best Integrated Consumer Bank Site and Best
Consumer Investment Management Services (Global Consumer Internet Bank
Sub-Categories) and Best Integrated Corporate Bank Site (Global
Corporate Internet Bank Sub-Category). These entries were evaluated by a
panel of judges representing Tata Consulting Services and the editors at
Global Finance selected the final winners.
HSBC UAE and HSBC UK Bank - the other successors of the “Best in Class”
category, described online bill pay functionality, use of sales campaign
managers and an overview of the eSaver products whilst the UK bank
shared details of online campaigns including virtual forest statement
suppression, online travel money and deposit acquisition schemes.
Centrally coordinated and funded by Global eBusiness, 19 out of 53
Global Direct Selling entities from HSBC entered the awards this year
and 9 entities won “best in country” awards and further collected 16
regional sub-category awards. 25 awards were won by HSBC at large during
round one.
The awards were aimed at identifying and honouring the most successful
and innovative providers of online banking services to corporate /
institutional and consumer customers. The criterion for selection were
strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers,
success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online
customer base, breadth of products offered, evidence of tangible
benefits gained from internet initiative, and web site design and
functionality. Sub-category winners were also selected on the basis of
relative strength of those products and services.

Commercial Bank’s 157th branch
at Digana
Commercial Bank has opened another branch at Digana in Kandy, taking its
islandwide branch network to 157.
The new branch is housed in a spacious, new building with ample parking
facilities and is located at Victoria Golf Club Road, Digana in Kandy.
The Digana branch is linked to all other Commercial Bank branches,
MiniCom Centres and Service Points at Arpico Supercentres through ComNet
permitting online real-time banking.
It is also equipped with an ATM linked to 280 other ATMs of Commercial
Bank and over one million ATMs belonging to the Cirrus and Visa networks
worldwide. |
