Officer, peon nabbed for allegedly accepting bribe

A Technical Officer and a peon attached to the Udapalatha Pradeshiya
Sabha in Gampola were arrested by bribery sleuths yesterday afternoon
for accepting Rs. 3,000 as bribe from a person, Director of Commission
to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption SSP Neville Guruge
said.
A person from GeliOya complained the Bribery Commission that he was
compelled to pay sum of Rs. 3,000 to the Technical Officer of the
Udapalatha Pradeshiya Sabha to recommend a plan of a building to build
in GeliOya.
“The Technical Officer and a peon attached to the Udapalatha PS were
arrested while they were allegedly accepting bribe of Rs. 3,000”, SSP
Guruge said.
“The Technical Officer instructed the peon to take the bribe from the
person who required the building plan. |
