Dilantha gets closer to second title in Malaysia
Malaysian Super Series 2007 Championship:
Sri Lankan racing driver Dilantha Malagamuwa has come closer to
winning his second successive Malaysian Super Series Championship title
when he took a firm lead at the fourth round at the Sepang FI Circuit in
Malaysia.
Presently he is with a tally of 145 points to be well ahead of his
closest rival Wira by 13 points.
Dilantha made a good start to his fourth round doing the fastest time
at the qualifying round the previous day, which gave him the vital pole
position an important one to win a race of this nature.
Out of the two races to be run on day one Dilantha finished 50
seconds pushing the title contenders Wira and Stewart to runners up
positions.
In the second race too Dilantha had the race in full control and
finished in the same manner, 40 seconds ahead of the other competitors.
With this victory he has come very close to the title and Dilantha is
confident of bringing back the Malaysian Super Series title to Sri Lanka
for the second time.
Next weekend Dilantha will face the starter in the fifth and final
round of the Malaysian Super Series with high hopes of maintaining his
winning streak. Last year too Dilantha won the same event and received
high accolades from all racing fans here and abroad. On his last visit
to Sri Lanka after the victory few felicitation ceremonies were
organized by his fans.
