Lanka ready to meet 7,000 English cricket fans

Sri Lanka Tourism said yesterday that the tourism industry is all geared up and ready to receive a posse of 7,000 English cricket fans for the England, Sri Lanka Test Series due to begin on 1 December in Kandy.

Sri Lanka Tourism also has reiterates that after the foiled suicide bomber attempt on a leading Tamil politician’s life and the bomb explosion in the Colombo suburbs, Nugegoda has little or no impact on the life in the city.

“No tourist has been injured in the incidents and precautions are being taken to ensure tight security,” said the Chairman Tourism Development Authority Renton De Alwis.

“Life in Colombo continues as normal,” he said. Working together with the Rotary Movement of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Tourism is planning tree planting and other greening campaigns during the event.

Senior Representatives of the England Cricket Team together with other Sri Lankan Counterparts are expected to participate in the launch of these initiatives.
