Sri Lankan shuttlers for Pakistan and Korea
A five member Sri Lankan Badminton team left for Pakistan to take
part at the Pakistan International Badminton Championships scheduled to
be held from November 23 to 28 in Islambad, Pakistan.
Karunaratne brothers Niluka, Diluka, Dinuka and top two women’s
shuttlers Chandrika de Silva and Thilini Jayasinghe are in this team.
This same team earlier participated in the Syria and Jordan Satellite
Badminton championships and brought successful results.
Sri Lankan doubles pair Chandrika and Thilini won the gold in Syria
while two golds, one silver and one bronze medal was won at the Jordan
tour.
The team for the Pakistan tour: Niluka Karunaratne, Diluka
Karunaratne, Dinuka Karunaratne, Chandrika de Silva and Thilini
Jayasinghe, Dayananda Peramuna (manager), Pradeep Welagedera (coach).
Meanwhile a four member badminton team will leave for Korea to take
part at the Korea International Challenge Badminton Championships which
is scheduled to be held from November 27 to December 2 in Suwan City,
Korea.
Four promising shuttlers have been selected for this tour as senior
players already in Pakistan tour to participate in the Pakistan
International Badminton Championships in Islamabad, said a senior
official of the Sri Lanka Badminton Association. The team for the Korea
International Challenge Badminton Championships:
Eranga Fernando, Udara Nayanajith, Yukthi Rangana and Amila Yatapana.
