Plans to establish National Language Training Institute

The Constitutional Affairs and National Integration Ministry has taken steps to establish a National Language Training Institute.

The functions of the new institute will begin shortly once the renovation of its building at Agalawatta is complete, a National Integration Ministry spokesman said. The Ministry has appointed a Management Board and an Advisory Board to the institute. N. Bambarawanage is the Chairman of the Institute.

The Board meets on November 27. This will be their first meeting. Minister of Constitutional and National Integration, D.E.W. Gunasekera will preside over. The new National Language Training Institute is expected to teach Sinhala, Tamil and English.

The aim is to create better teachers who can teach in Sinhala, Tamil and in English and good translators.The Ministry sources said, that the main aim of the institute is to create persons with trilingual skills to be absorbed in to the Public Service.
