Local dogs for Police Kennel Department

The Police Kennel Department has effected a major saving of foreign exchange for the country by obtaining 65 high breed dogs to augment its depleted kennel from local sources.

OIC Police Kennel Department Chief Inspector Lal Seneviratne said the 65 dogs were selected from nearly 200 dogs under two years offered by local donors following a public appeal.

"The response to the public appeal was so encouraging that we were able to make a choice selection from breeds such as German Shepherd, Labrador, Golden Retriever, Dobberman and Alsation," he said.
