Under 14 Boys and Girls Volleyball finals on Friday

The under 14 Boys and Girls finals of the DSI Super Sports all island inter-school Volleyball Championship is to be worked off this Friday at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium at 1.00 p.m.

Two teams from Kurunegala District Hangamuwa Junior School, Ibbagamuwa and St. Bernadette’s College, Polgahawela will clash in the final of the Girls section while in the Boys section Yan Ela MV, Kantale will confront Senanayake MMV from Madampe. The boys final is to commence at 3.00 p.m.

Hangamuwa MV qualified for the final beating Kohombagaskawala MV Anuradhapura 3 sets to nil in the semi-final. (25-12, 25-14, 25-10). St. Bernadette’s College made their way to the final in this category when they trounced the much fancied Mihindupura MV, Trincomalee also with the same margin 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-11).

The play off for the third place saw Anuradhapura team defeat Mihindupura MV (25-10, 29-27, 25-11) to take the second runner up position.

In the Boys category Senanayake MMV, Madampe overcame Rajasinghe MV Ruwanwella 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-18) to make their entry in to the final, meanwhile Yan Ela MV after a hard fought battle won the semi-final beating Nagoda MV, Kalutara to qualify for the final 3-2 (25-19, 14-25, 13-25, 25-22, 15-22).

The third place in this section was won by Rajasinghe MV, Ruwanwella 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 27-25). They defeated Nagoda MV, Kalutara. The chief guests on this day will be Ampara District MP Jayantha Weerasekera and Priyankara Jayaratne Chairman, Agricultural Development Authority.

The winners are to receive Rs. 50,000 plus DSI Super Sport Trophy. While the two runners up will be awarded with Rs. 25,000 and 15,000 respectively.
