Denham misses a well deserved ton
Skipper Denham Perera missed out a century by a solitary run as St.
Peter's College took control on the opening day of their Astra Cup inter
school under 15 division one cricket tournament final against
President's College which began at St. Benedict's College grounds in
Kotahena yesterday.
The right hand opening batsman was left on 99 not out when the
Peterite innings had to be terminated after the completion of their
allotted 90 overs having hit up a commanding first innings total of 248
for 8.
Perera hoisted one six and struck eleven boundaries and also put on
95 runs for the second wicket with Dirk Muller who stroked a fluent 73
with two sixes and five boundaries.
President's College who have reached a division one tournament final
for the first time ended the day at a hopeless 35 for 3 with Trishan
Fernando capturing two wickets.
