Lullabys for expectant mothers

The Health Department has launched a programme to sooth and develop the mental health of expectant mothers by singing lullabys for them.

This programme has been extended to Family Health Officers. They should assemble expectant mothers to a central place in the village and serve them kindly and look into their problems with the help of medical officers, sources said.

New mothers are to be counselled on their behaviour and practices as an expectant mother.

The programme should conclude with the singing of lullabys by a trained group of girls, sources said. The lullaby programme of the Hiripitiya Pannipitiya Family Health Division will be held on November 17 at 8.30 a.m. at Hiripitiya Purana Viharaya, Pannipitiya.

The Health Department has advised to conduct this expectant mothers’ soothing programme in all Family Health Officers’ divisions.
