Rs. 10 b for health sector from Budget

Rs. 10 billion has been allocated for the health sector from this budget. This is an increase of Rs. 3.5 billion when compared with last year's allocation which was Rs. 6.5 billion, Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry sources said.

The Ministry will implement a special healthcare development programme to upgrade healthcare facilities in the North and East and the Estate sector, the sources said.

The amount allocated for the health sector from this budget is 2.7 from the GDP. This is the third largest allocation apart from national security and education.
