Budget 2008 catalyst for progress

Budget-2008 being presented at a most challenging time in the country's recent history would act as a catalyst for peace and development, Minister of State Revenue and Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said yesterday. President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is also the Finance Minister will present the Budget proposals in Parliament this morning.

Budget to focus on infrastructure development

The 2008 Budget would mainly focus on infrastructure development, and aim to lower the deficit by 7.5 per cent, to achieve long term sustainability, Deputy Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.
