The workshops which were aimed at building the hair and beauty trade in the region and promoting hair dressers and beauticians of the area in which they were held created a lot of hype and interest amongst participants.

Amongst the highlights of the workshops was the makeover of K. Sumali from Balangoda and Sachithra Harshani from Kuliyapitiya who participated in the workshops.

Makeovers were done by H.U.P Jayalath and J.H.M Shiromini Bandara at the Balangoda and Kuliyapitiya workshops comprising of western hairdos with hints on maintenance, make-up, accessories and clothing tips.

Speaking of the hairstyle creation on Sumali, Hairdresser, Jayalath, stated,"I chose Sumali as a model who possessed charm and natural beauty.

As the Sunsilk hadakari workshops are all about creating a good image that needs to be complimented with a good hair style. Since Sumali had short curly hair it was best to go for a slightly high western hair do which complimented her overall look.

She looked beautiful and stood apart from the rest of the contestants. The winning model Sumali, a science student from Palmadulle was very happy to have taken part in the hair show as an amateur model.

"It was an unforgettable experience for me, as I saw a difference in my appearance, which for me was unbelievable", she said.

Sachithra Harshini an A/L student from Polgahawela stated it was the first time she had ever participated at such an event.

The Sunsilk Hadakari workshops is an exercise that is also aimed at building public awareness on the need for proper grooming and hair care which helps to build self confidence and self worth.

The workshops give participants and attendees the opportunity to achieve a better total look. The 'Hedakari' workshops began with a segment on proper hair care conducted by PHABA professionals, giving consumers tips and advice on product usage, hair styles and tips on achieving and maintaining the overall look.

This was followed by a series of segments on make-up, bridal and personal grooming including several competitions for consumers.

The regional workshops which have so far created a lot of interest in Badulla, Balangoda, Galle, Negombo and Kuliyapitiya are scheduled to travel as far as Dehiathakandiya, Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Kalutara and Maharagama in the coming weeks.
